Dan Smith

Camera, Post‑Production, Production

My experience includes 7 years full-time at award-winning London production company Pukka Films, under the mentorship of BIFA award winning filmmakers, Paul Katis and Andrew de Lotbiniere (director/producer of the 2014 BAFTA nominated feature film ‘Kilo Two Bravo’).

As a video editor, my work spans across animation, online content and documentary through to long-form drama and feature film trailers for theatrical release.

As a writer my speciality is comedy and drama (sometimes at the same time!). I write comedy sketches and short dramas for commercial clients and charities and more recently I have been commissioned for feature film projects in the UK and in Asia.

As a director in the UK, I have made two independent films; a post-apocalyptic horror ‘The Dark Hours’ (2014) and crime thriller ‘The Cocktail Waitress’ (2016), both of which were highly commended at international festivals. In 2019, my suite of short dramas (for Pukka Films) won a gold award at the EVCOM commercial film awards. In 2022, I wrote a short drama for the charity ‘Gambling With Lives’, which won a gold EVCOM. Currently, I am in post on my third film, an action/comedy shot in Bangkok: “Call Me Dada”
