James Thomson – Sound Recordist / Production Sound Mixer

James Thomson is a sound recordist with over 25 years experience in television documentaries, commercials and short films.  He is based in Bristol and London.

James uses a 16 track Zaxcom Nova recorder/mixer with two built in 4 channel receiver modules allowing a maximum of 8 seperate radio mic channels to be in use simultaneously.  For talent,  Zaxcom ZMT-3/4 miniature transmitters with onboard recording and timecode are used in conjunction with DPA lavalier microphones.   For directors and clients,  Zaxcom URX-100 IFB receivers with headsets are provided ensuring the best IFB audio quality on the market.  ”  For interior / exterior boom microphones Schoeps CMC-1 / CMIT are used.  ” James is very competent on location.  As well as being technically proficient,  he works in a creative way which is a real benefit to all of those involved in the film ”  Fredrik Gertten – award winning documentary director.
