Josie Connell

- Josie is a Film, TV and Commercial hair & makeup artist, based in Bristol. Her work has range as she is an extremely adaptable artist; she has worked on many short films backed by companies such as BBC, Creative England, Sky Arts, BFI and Channel 4. Designed for atmospheric music videos like ‘Lovers’ by Anna of the North which was featured on MTV and in I-D Magazine, and completed trainee positions for Microsoft Xbox , Walt Disney production Mary Poppins Returns and ITV drama Belgravia. Most recently, Josie was the makeup artist on a Feature Documentary ‘Lucy The Chimp’ broadcast on Channel 4 & HBO Max. On all these experiences, Josie has established herself as a professional artist, that has taken on challenges without hesitation in order to contribute as much as she can to the aesthetic of a production. Prior to starting her career, she trained at the Bath Academy of Media Makeup, completing the intensive Peter Swords King Film, Television and Theatre Makeup course. She trained in knotting and weaving, facial postiche application, wig styling, period and vintage hair and makeup, camouflage/corrective makeup, continuity and script breakdown, HD airbrush makeup, hair cutting and barbering for continuity, character and theatrical makeup and SFX and prosthetics training including face casting, moulding and sculpting. Josie also completed Barbering training at Reflections and an HND in Prosthetics & Sculpting at Creative Media Skills in Pinewood Studios. Josie is a calm, confident and highly creative makeup artist, with an admiration for special effects creations and authenticity in photographic and cinematic form.
