Award-winning independent documentary filmmaker and director specialising in unearthing new stories that showcase social problems, celebrate difference, break down stereotypes and represent the underrepresented. I work in broadcast TV, independent documentaries, Arts and Charity films and commercials.
In 2020 I had two independent documentary commissions; ‘The Covid-19 Diaries’, documenting the human experience of Covid-19 all over the world and ‘2020,’ a collaborative documentary made with the Somali Girls Group tackling issues of race, identity and what it’s like to be a female Muslim teenager in today’s society.
I work in television as a self-shooting and casting assistant producer and have worked on a range of genres including documentary, natural history , factual entertainment and game shows. I shoot on Sony FS7 and A7S cameras primarily but work with Canon C300/200 ranges and Blackmagic pockets. I edit on Premiere and own my own A7S kit with sound. A cross-section of some of the types of programmes I have worked on include Channel 5’s ‘The Missing Files’, Channel 4’s Dispatches, BBC’s observational documentary ‘Tourettes Teacher’, BBC 1 ‘s primetime BAFTA award winning ‘DIY SOS’ and Channel 4’s ‘Crystal Maze USA’.
